Paul Magnier headlines our seven-man squad for the 92nd edition of the one-day race.
A hilly course, up and down the entire time, and almost 2000 vertical meters should make for a spectacular day of racing in Fourmies, the small town located in northern France, where our team triumphed on three occasions: 2008, 2016 and 2023.
The 193km-long Grand Prix de Fourmies will be one of our squad’s many appointments of the weekend, and the Soudal Quick-Step boys will aim again for a good result.
Paul Magnier, who in addition to winning five races this season, scored some impressive results in a series of one-day races – from Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and Dwars door het Hageland to the ADAC Cyclassics and Bretagne Classic – is set to lead our team on Sunday, when he’ll be joined at the start by Ayco Bastiaens, former Belgian Champion Yves Lampaert, Pepijn Reinderink, Dries Van Gestel, Bert Van Lerberghe, and Jordi Warlop.
“We have a very experienced team and a strong sprinter, Paul, who’s had some great results this year, in just his second pro season. We can control the race and support Paul with a solid lead-out train in case it comes down to a bunch sprint. On the other hand, a mass gallop isn’t guaranteed, as the weather and the wind could play an important role, which means we need to stay attentive and be well positioned the whole time in case the race fragments”, said sports director Geert Van Bondt.
