Biography

Bert hails from Kortrijk, the West Flemish town which has a rich tradition and love for cycling, and is now entering his third season with the Wolfpack. In the years that have passed since turning pro in 2015, the Belgian showed himself in many races, especially the Classics, where he racked up solid top 10 placings, be it in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne, Paris-Brussels, Classic Brugge-De Panne, Nokere Koerse, Handzame Classic or Kampioenschap van Vlaanderen.

But Bert – who is passionate about welding and from time to time likes to take on some projects around the house – is also a strong and skilled lead-out man, one of the best in the business. He has showcased these qualities together with his deep knowledge of mass gallops on numerous occasions since joining Soudal Quick-Step as part of the famous Wolfpack sprint train in several races, and together with best friend Tim Merlier he forms a formidable duo – one of the most redoubtable in the pro peloton – which contributed to the team’s remarkable 2025 season.

“All the wins that I played a part in are important to me, but the most memorable ones are those of the 2021 Spring Classics campaign and the ones of Tim. We trust each other 100% and this makes things easier for us when we are in a race. I’m very happy to stay here, I feel great and love the atmosphere in the squad. Soudal Quick-Step is a special team, the best team for me, and I appreciate their confidence, something which only motivates me to continue giving my best.”
