A strong five-man squad will be at the start of Friday’s race.
Created a decade ago, Zwevezele Koers is one of the last kermesses of the season. Scheduled just before the final weekend of the World Championships, when the riders will take on a 153.5km course, the race promises to be full gas and action-packed from the very beginning.
Soudal Quick-Step comes at the start with five riders, some of whom raced Omloop van het Houtland on Wednesday, helping our team get its 42nd win of the season: Gil Gelders, former Belgian Champion Yves Lampaert, Pieter Serry, Bert Van Lerberghe, and Jordi Warlop.
“Zwevezele is not an easy race, especially if there will be wind. It’s a typical kermesse, which means there should be a lot of attacks and groups trying to get away. We have a strong team, which includes the likes of Yves and Bert, and we hope to feature in the finale and fight for a good result”, said sports director Tom Steels.
