That’s six wins for the 39-year-old home favourite since the start of the week.

There’s no such thing as a winless night for Iljo Keisse at the Six Days of Gent. The man who wrote history here in the last two decades enjoyed another remarkable outing, sending his fans into rapture in a packed ‘t Kuipke that buzzed for several hours Saturday evening, on the penultimate day of competition.

A runner-up place in the first Madison served only as an appetizer for the hundreds of Belgian fans, who later roared Iljo to glory in the Derny race, which our rider won ahead of Jules Hesters after a phenomenal finale. A third podium on the night, in the last Madison, meant that Iljo and Jasper De Buyst remain in contention for a top three result Sunday afternoon, when the competition will come to a conclusion.
