Stage 4 brings more changes to the general classification.
Wednesday afternoon found the riders in the Allier department, for a rolling 13.4km individual time trial that started in Domérat and finished in Montluçon, the hometown of Roger Walkowiak, who in 1956 produced one of the biggest surprises in Tour de France history, winning the overall standings as part of the regional North-East/Centre team.
A two-time victor at the Belgian ITT National Championships, most recently in 2021, Yves Lampaert sported the beautiful jersey he conquered in front of his home supporters for the second time this season, following the Volta ao Algarve, and put in a strong ride, which saw him conclude the stage won by Wout Van Aert (Jumbo-Visma) in 17:07.
Paris-Nice continues Thursday with a stage ideal for the baroudeurs. The 188.8km course between Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert and Saint-Sauveur-de-Montagut contains six climbs, the last of which will be crested with just 11 kilometers to go.
