Martin Svrcek concludes as the highest-ranked rider of the team on the queen stage.
One of the youngest riders in the history of the Tour de Pologne to have won a stage, Paul Magnier spent the last road stage of this edition by going in the breakaway. Victorious two days ago, the Frenchman showed the stunning T-Rex Quick-Step jersey on the roads between Bukovina Resort and Bukowina Tatrzanska, where the queen stage of the race concluded after seven classified climbs and 2800 vertical meters.
Magnier rode a solid race at the front, staying with the group until around 50 kilometers to go, when a combination between the hard slopes and the fierce tempo set in the peloton brought his time in the breakaway to an end. Following numerous attacks, the bunch was reduced to just a dozen riders – but not the yellow jersey, who got dropped – for the final kilometers of stage six.
The victory went to Victor Langelotti (Ineos Grenadiers) after an attack from the front group with 200 meters to go, while Martin Svrcek – who is competing in his first World Tour stage race of the season – finished as the best placed T-Rex Quick-Step rider, coming home with the first chasing group, in the top 20, just a couple of seconds behind the winner.
