Our feeder team took the honours there for the second year in a row.
Senne Hulsmans picked up his second success of the season Saturday afternoon. Victorious in Heusden-Zolder two weeks ago, the Belgian raised again his arms in the air, this time at Dwars door Wingen, the 153.9km-long event created in 2021.
The Soudal Quick-Step Devo Team was active the entire day, placing Erazem Valjavec in the breakaway that formed in the first hour of the race. That move ended up being a dangerous one, as it took the combined efforts of several teams to be brought back just before the finishing straight.
Once the catch was made, the sprint trains moved to the front of the bunch, and Senne Hulsmans got to show again his impressive turn of legs. Having been put in a great position by his teammates, the 21-year-old produced a huge burst of speed to win by a couple of bike lengths and deliver our second consecutive win in Wingene, after the one scored by Leander Van Hautegem in 2024.
“The race was fairly calm, and for me the main focus was on a possible sprint. When one of my teammates got away with a group, all I had to do was patiently wait. In the end, the breakaway was caught with one kilometer to go, and thanks to a perfect lead-out from my teammates, I was able to take the win. I’m really happy to make it two victories this season and I want to say a big thank you to the squad for supporting me and working tirelessly today”, said Senne after Soudal Quick-Step Devo Team’s seventh victory of the year.
