One of the best young Belgian riders out there, the 22-year-old has signed a contract until the end of 2027.

Jonathan Vervenne will become the sixth Soudal Quick-Step Devo Team U23 rider to join the Wolfpack, a logical step for the Genk native, who has built himself an impressive palmares over the last three seasons.

Double ITT National Champion – the second of these titles captured earlier this year – KOM jersey winner at the Giro della Valle d’Aosta, and a stage victor at the Giro Next Gen – these are just some of the standout results Jonathan racked up since becoming a member of our feeder squad, back in 2023.

Of these, maybe the most impressive one was his victory at this year’s U23 Giro d’Italia, not just because it’s the most recent one and came with the bonus of a day in the maglia rosa, but also because he took it after a phenomenal ride in the breakaway, which saw him spend 140 kilometers (of which, 60 alone) at the front of the race, holding off an entire peloton on the hilly roads of Lombardia.

“I’m happy to have signed a pro contract with Soudal Quick-Step! I am grateful for their confidence, but I also want to say a big thanks to Bart and Kevin and the whole Devo Team. Not only that they helped me grow as a rider, but also made sure I kept both feet on the ground. Cycling is a team sport, it’s always about the team in this sport, and this is an important lesson that I’m taking with me to the World Tour. I’ve had a great time with the Devo squad, and the victory I recently got in the Giro Next Gen, together with my day in pink, stand out by far. I’m looking forward to the next step: to keep learning, working hard and helping the team wherever I can”, an elated Jonathan said.

“This team has a fantastic tradition when it comes to promoting and developing young riders. The Devo Team is a project in which we firmly believe and from which many riders have joined us in the past years and almost immediately contributed to our victories. Jonathan is the latest rider to become a member of Soudal Quick-Step, and if you look over his list of achievements, you see the potential he has for time trials but also for road racing. We are delighted he will turn pro next season, as we are confident that we can achieve some beautiful things together in the years to come”, said team CEO Jurgen Foré.
