João was again one of the main protagonists in the mountains.

The first rider to throw down the gauntlet on the viciously steep slopes of Alpe di Mera, Deceuninck – Quick-Step’s 22-year-old took another stage podium, cemented his place in the top 10 overall and showed he is on track for a great final weekend at the Corsa Rosa.

Only Alpe Motta and an individual time trial in Milano stand between the Portuguese all-rounder and another solid result in just his second Grand Tour.
