Biography of Marek

Marek hails from Oudenaarde, which means he grew up right in the middle of region known as being the epicenter of the Spring Classics, and the heroic battles on the cobbles between legendary riders such as Johan Museeuw and Peter Van Petegem became forever etched into his memory. His love for the sport led to him racing in the youth categories before studying Clinical Psychology at the University of Gent.

The Belgian – whose path in life saw him become a mechanic for the national team – describes joining Soudal Quick-Step as something “really special, because this is a squad that has a huge love for the Classics, which are in its DNA”. When he’s not with the squad, he loves to travel and take part in gravel races.
