Biography of Anthony

“A physio has the brain of a scientist, the heart of a humanist and the hands of an artist” – we don’t know who said it, but what we do know is that it fits perfectly our physiotherapist and osteopath Anthony, who for more than eight years has worked with both the road and track squads of the Belgian Cycling Team.

Coming from Edegem, a small and quiet town not far from Antwerp, Anthony studied physical therapy at the University College of Antwerp, from where he went to the Flanders International College for Osteopathy. In 2014, he joined Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl, working as physiotherapist, but also as a soigneur whenever needed, handling bottles, preparing the riders’ food and caring for them at the finish.

His work doesn’t stop here, and as soon as the race is over, Anthony is back at the hotel, mending the riders and getting them ready for another hard day in the saddle. A big fan of Bon Iver and Justin Vernon, he usually kicks off his season early, in Australia, from where he takes on a worldwide journey that concludes in the month of October.

Anthony also loves cooking, is interested in modern abstract art and can really appreciate a good gin and tonic. Actually, just like some people collect wines or beers from the places they travel to, he’s putting together a collection of all good gins he brings home from all over the world.
