Biography
A pure climber, William makes the transition to the World Tour recommended by a bunch of solid results racked up in 2023, during his season with the Soudal Quick-Step Devo Team. From his third place overall at the Tour du Rwanda to top ten finishes at both Girobio and Tour de l’Avenir, and from the solo victory he got in Herbeumont to the perfect day in the saddle he had at the Piccolo Giro di Lombardia, where he came out on top, the Belgian kept turning heads, so it didn’t come as a surprise that he was rewarded at the prestigious Kristallen Fiets Gala with the trophy for the best U23 rider of the year.
“I have trained hard to be a pro, and now seeing this become reality is just fantastic. I really feel well in this team, in this environment. I hope to be up there from the beginning next year, but of course it will be all about learning and gaining experience. Riding in the same team with Remco Evenepoel and all the other great riders here will be very special, and I can’t wait for it”, said the 21-year-old, whose contract stretches until the end of 2026.
