Biography
Winner of the 2022 National Road Race Championships, an impressive solo success that came on the steep VAM-berg, and a rider who has shown what he’s capable of in both the Classics and week-long stage races – such as the Tour de Pologne or the Tour of Britain, which he finished in the top ten overall – the 28-year-old had a solid first season in the Soudal Quick-Step jersey, playing an important role in many of our victories.
A pro since 2018, the Dutchman also rode the Tour de France for the second time in his career and produced some strong displays there, including one that netted him a podium finish in Pontarlier: “I think it was a good first season as a wolf. Soudal Quick-Step is one of the most important and successful in the history of cycling, a squad that has had a huge impact in the cycling world, a team with an incredible heritage, which I have always admired. I found here a very professional environment and top equipment, and I’m delighted I could help the squad win races last year. I’m hoping that this season we will get more good results and I will be able to show again the best version of myself.”
