Biography
The likable and always-polite Italian continued to improve in his fifth season with the Wolfpack – despite it being marred by health problems in the spring – and made more significant steps in the time trial, the discipline he loves so much. This improvement was underlined by his impressive bronze medal at the European Championships, which was immediately followed by a gold one in the mixed relay – two performances that came after a solid outing at La Vuelta.
“I am super happy and proud to be in this team and set new goals as I enter my sixth season with Soudal Quick-Step. The Wolfpack is a unique squad in cycling, and it is a pleasure to ride with them and work for the team. I am proud of how my time trial has progressed in these past years. I love this discipline a lot and my next goal will be to continue improving as a specialist. Hopefully I can progress even more and get the opportunity to score some more TT victories. I dream of being one of the best time trial riders in the world and here I feel I am in the best environment to do that.”
