Biography
In his second pro season, Junior confirmed the progress he made since joining the Wolfpack and showed some beautiful things on the road. A pair of top-ten results in the GC at the UAE Tour and the Tour de Romandie was followed in the summer by his first victories in the Soudal Quick-Step jersey.
A stage win at the Czech Tour and a spirited display on the last day of the race there brought him his first ever overall victory, which he then went on to confirm with an impressive ride at La Vuelta. One of the hardest races in the world, where the demanding climbs test the climbers almost on a daily basis, the Spanish Grand Tour saw Lecerf conclude just outside the top ten in Madrid for what was Belgium’s best GT result of the year, one that augurs well for his future.
“I got to make a lot of steps forward in my second year with the team and it gave me a lot of satisfaction. I am a better rider, but at the same time, I am aware of the fact that I still have a lot to improve, and to continue doing it in this environment makes me very happy. I carry a lot of ambitions into my third season with the squad and I’m confident I can reach new heights together with the Wolfpack.”
