Biography

One of the few Czech riders to have won a Giro d’Italia stage, Josef turned pro in 2013, and has since claimed several victories: the 2018 National Road Race Championships, as well as his nation’s time trial title in 2018, 2020 and 2021, the overall classification of the Okolo Slovenska and the 2023 Tour de Romandie prologue, where he enjoyed a stint in the yellow jersey after beating some of the world’s best time triallists.

Last season, he was once again one of the team’s pillars – being in one-day or stage races – and the 31-year-old retains the same motivation of giving his absolute best in what will be his fifth year with the team.

“I am super happy that I have the chance to ride with Soudal Quick-Step and that I can contribute to this amazing team’s legacy. I like working hard on the front whenever needed and regardless of the conditions, I like being part of the sprint train, but I have also shown that I can take my own results when I have good legs, in the time trials or in the breakaways. I want to demonstrate this in what I hope will be another great year for us.”
