Biography
One of the most talented U25 Belgian riders in the pro peloton, Ilan continued his upward trajectory in his third season with the Wolfpack, and after some strong displays in the early races of the year, he proved once again that he is made for stage races, finishing top five overall at the UAE Tour and the Tour de Romandie. In the summer, he supported Remco Evenepoel at the Tour de France, where his countryman took a remarkable third on the GC, and towards the end of the season, finished an impressive runner-up in Japan, a result that spoke of his potential for the hilly one-day races.
“Last season was one with some ups, but also with some downs. The most important thing is that I never gave up and continued to believe in myself and in what I am capable of doing, at all times knowing that I had the support and confidence of my second family, Soudal Quick-Step. Ending the year on a high at the Japan Cup is something I will build on for this year, when I hope to do even more in stage races and be among those fighting for a good result in the general classification.”
