Quatre Jours de Dunkerque concludes with a sprinters’ stage

There weren’t any surprises on the last day of the French race, which put on the table a 185.6km flat course that included several laps of a local circuit in Dunkerque, where the event traditionally comes to an end. As was the case in the previous stages, a breakaway formed soon after the start, but the four riders in the lead took their maximum advantage to just two minutes before the peloton began chasing.

In the last 30 kilometers, the catch was made, only for two other men to roll the dice and launch an all-out attack that helped them put 20 seconds into the chasers. As the race approached the closing ten kilometers, the bunch caught them too and the stage concluded with a showdown between the fast men, won by Jake Stewart (Israel-Premier Tech).

Yves Lampaert was our top finisher in Dunkerque, coming home together with the peloton. In the general classification the former Belgian Champion concluded in 14th place, less than 15 seconds outside the top ten, after a strong week of racing in northern France.
