Second points classification victory of his career for the Frenchman after a dream week.
Paul Magnier concluded the tenth edition of the CRO Race by taking the points jersey, which had been in his possession since the opening stage, which he comfortably won in Sinj. It was the start of an incredible run for the 21-year-old, who went on to add three more victories to his name, just like in Slovakia, last month.
It was Magnier’s first participation in Croatia, and at the end of the week he became the most successful rider in the race’s history in terms of stage wins – a remarkable achievement for the Frenchman. Four victories and a runner-up spot on the last day of the event – a cold and wet one, where the rain impacted the finale – were enough for our rider to seal the points classification and bring home Soudal Quick-Step’s sixth distinctive jersey of the season.
“It was tough today, with the wind, the cold, the rain and all those slippery roads, which made chasing the breakaway really difficult. Fortunately, I had a great team to protect me and chase down the escapees, and I tip my hat again to them”, Paul said right after the race. “I’m happy with the week I had here together with the guys. Four stages and this jersey made for another beautiful and memorable race, after Okolo Slovenska. My season isn’t over yet and I would love to get at least one more win and reach 15 victories this year.”
