Louis Vervaeke remains a wolf

The 31-year-old Belgian has added three more years to his deal with Soudal Quick-Step.

Part of the team since 2022, Louis Vervaeke is enjoying a fine season in the Soudal Quick-Step jersey, despite an injury that prevented him from riding the Tour de France. In February, at the Tour of Oman, Louis capped off a sensational ride in the breakaway by taking the first pro victory of his career, which came with the beautiful bonus of a day in the leader’s jersey. He then continued to put his experience into the squad’s services – in both one-day events and stage races – before the crash in the Dauphiné that forced him to bring to an end the first part of the year.

It came as no surprise that Louis was rewarded with a new contract with Soudal Quick-Step, extending his stay with the team until the end of 2028 – a decision he had no trouble taking: “I’m really proud to continue for three more years in the team, as there wasn’t any doubt when it came to remaining with the Wolfpack. This contract shows the confidence Soudal Quick-Step has in me and I’m really motivated to show that I can continue being of value to the squad. It would be nice to win a race again in the future, now that I got to see how it feels to do it, but at the same time, I want to keep progressing, play my domestique role and help the squad get some really big victories.”

Soudal Quick-Step CEO Jurgen Foré echoed Louis’ thoughts, saying: “Extending the contract of Louis was an easy decision from both sides. Not only that he is excellent in his role, as shown numerous times in the Classics and the Grand Tours of these last four years, but he has improved a lot since joining us – as evidenced by his victory in Oman this season – and we believe he can still do it in the coming years. Louis is a real wolf, somebody who always puts the goals of the group first, and it makes us happy he will continue in our jersey.”
