Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team Sports Director Rik Van Slycke predicted the 149.9km race, which included a six lap circuit for the finishing kilometers, would come down to a field sprint.

Van Slycke was correct in his prediction. Argos-Shimano, Rabobank, and Lotto-Belisol brought back a four rider break who had a maximum gap of four minutes with more than enough time to set up the field sprint.

Theo Bos (Rabobank) took the victory, with Kenny Van Hummel (Vacansoleil-DCM) 2nd and Mark Renshaw (Rabobank) 3rd. No OPQS were in the top 10.

Andy Fenn was the top OPQS finisher, in 18th place.
