Back-to-back trophies for the 23-year-old.

Remco Evenepoel picked up another accolade, one of the most important awards in his home country. Soudal Quick-Step’s rider, who is preparing to join the team for the Calpe training camp, has been named Belgian Sportsman of the Year for the third time in his career. In the prestigious annual survey, Remco finished around 300 points clear of Luca Brecel, the reigning Snooker World Champion, who came in second.

This latest achievement comes after another outstanding season of Evenepoel, who racked up a total of 13 victories, including Liège–Bastogne–Liège – which he won with the iconic rainbow jersey on his shoulders – the Belgian Title, Clasica San Sebastian, another race where he wrote history, the ITT World Championships in Scotland and five Grand Tour stages.

“Obviously, I’m honoured and proud to be named Belgian Sportsman of the Year and I want to thank everyone who voted for me. I took some beautiful victories this past year, which I can say was a very good one for me, but there’s always room for more, and I am determined to continue working hard together with the team in order to achieve more great wins next season”, said Remco, the first male road rider since Tom Boonen to win this award three times.
