Jerome Pineau and Zdenek Stybar had great position in the final meters of the 180.2km 4 Jours de Dunkerque Stage 2 on Saturday, trying to get the jump on Stage 1 winner John Degenkolb (Argos-Shimano) in the sprint.

Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team controlled the race — particularly within the final 60km when four or five riders on the team made a chase group that reeled in the remaining two of a four rider break that had more than 4'35" of a gap with 64km to go.

The chase group was reeled in, the two remaining riders were caught, and the peloton began to battle for position. Stybar and Pineau were to catalysts throughout the race, and had the best shot for victory. Unfortunately, sprinter extraordinaire Degenkolb took off between both riders for the victory. Stybar was 2nd, and Pineau 3rd.
