Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team was not part of a select group of riders that were able to stick together in the final kilometers to compete for the sprint finish at Tour de Romandie Stage 4.

Luis Leon Sanchez (Rabobank) won his second race in a row, beating out Rinaldo Nocentini (AG2R La Mondiale) and Branislau Samoilau (Movistar) on Saturday. Sanchez also took over the general classification lead over Bradley Wiggins (Sky ProCycling).

Jean-Christophe Peraud (AG2R La Mondiale), Guillaume Levarlet (Saur-Sojasun), Eduard Vorganov (Katusha), Petr Ignatenko (Katusha), Jorge Azanza (Euskatel-Euskadi) and Johann Tschopp (BMC Racing Team) initially attacked the peloton on a tough climbing stage, but they were eventually reeled in. Multiple other attacks occured in the final 20km, and the peloton had thinned down considerably as a result of the course and the hard efforts of the breaks and the chasing peloton. Several riders abandoned, including world champion Mark Cavendish (Sky ProCycling) and several Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team riders.

Serge Pauwels was the Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team top finisher, in 53rd place.
