OPQS rider Pieter Serry finished 6th in the shortened 2nd stage of the Tour of Beijing.

Julian Alaphilippe was in the early breakaway with 3 other riders, but after 40 kilometer Alaphilippe dropped back in the bunch. The other 3 escapees went on, but were caught in the final kilometres of the stage.

After 111 km there was an uphill finish. Philippe Gilbert (BMC Racing Team) took the stage win. Serry finished 6th, teammates Rigoberto Uran and Alaphilippe finished just outside the top-10.
