OPQS rider Wout Poels entered the original breakaway of the day on the final road stage of La Vuelta a España on Saturday. Poels lost contact before the finale, but the last rider of the breakaway was caught by the top GC contenders who ultimately decided 185.7km Stage 20.

Carlos Verona was the top finisher for OPQS, in 33rd place.

Alberto Contador (Tinkoff-Saxo) won solo, dropping Chris Froome (Team Sky) inside the final kilometer to further strengthen his GC leadership. Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) was 3rd, having lost contact with the small GC group earlier on the HC summit finale, but catching and passing Joaquim Rodriguez (Katusha) in pursuit of the two leaders.

OPQS looks next to the final stage of La Vuelta on Sunday, a 9.7km ITT.
