As consequence of a crash at Liège-Bastogne-Liège on Sunday, Michal Golas withdrew from the race and underwent team medical staff examinations this morning. X-rays underlined an impact fracture of his left scaphoid. He will have to wear a cast for the next two weeks, and then he will undergo another CT scan to evaluate the evolution of the injury.

"I was riding in the first part of the group at the Haute Levée," Golas said. "But then Rui Costa crashed suddenly in front of me. I didn't even have time to react and try to brake. I was on the ground instantly. It's a pity because I had a good condition and I could have been helpful for Kwiatkowski for the final. But, that's cycling sometimes. Now the only thing to do now is take a period of rest and then, together with the team, we will reshape my race program."
