Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team riders Dries Devenyns and Gianluca Brambilla finished 17th and 18th in the 228.3km Tour of Austria Stage 5 on Thursday, as the peloton arrived completely split up due to the steepness of the uphill finale.

The race came back together with about 2km to go, but Mathias Frank (BMC Racing Team) saw an opportunity to attack and went on to win the stage. Rafal Majka (Team Saxo-Tinkoff) and Nicolas Edet (Cofidis Solutions Credits) were the only riders able to try and chase him down, finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Devenyns remains in the Top 5 GC, in 4th place.
