Pais Vasco: sterke afsluitende tijdrit Brambilla

Gianluca Brambilla gaf in een lastige tijdrit rond de anderhalve minuut toe op de winnaar. Brambilla kon zijn klimkwaliteiten ten volle benutten in de tijdrit met de Santuario de Arrate in het parcours.

Alberto Contador (Tinkoff) was de snelste in de afsluitende tijdrit voor Nairo Quintana (Movistar) en Sergio Henao (Team Sky). Contador werd daardoor ook eindwinnaar van deze Vuelta al Pais Vasco. Neo-prof Laurens de Plus was met een 25e stek de beste Etixx – Quick-Step renner in het algemene klassement.
